Designed for a active family of four, this custom new build in Vancouver was envisioned as a calm and highly livable family home, grounded in light, warmth, and simplicity. Andrea Rodman Interiors led the full-service interior design for the residence, with construction completed by Blackfish Homes. The interiors balance contemporary comfort with a restrained and inviting approach to soft minimalism.
Positioned to capture expansive views toward the Lions Gate Bridge and the Vancouver skyline, the home was designed around the experience of natural light. Floor-to-ceiling windows and large sliding doors create a seamless connection between interior and exterior living spaces, allowing sunlight to shape the atmosphere throughout the day.
Drawing inspiration from Scandinavian design principles, the interiors are grounded in simplicity, warmth, and functionality. Thoughtfully integrated millwork, restrained detailing, and a soft material palette create a sense of openness while supporting the needs of everyday family life.
The home was designed to feel both elevated and livable, with spaces that encourage gathering, relaxation, and connection. The primary ensuite evokes the feeling of a private retreat, while durable and timeless finishes throughout the residence were selected to support longevity and an active lifestyle.
As a reflection of the project’s sustainability goals, the home achieved a Green Platinum certification, incorporating environmentally conscious materials and energy-efficient design strategies. The result is a contemporary Vancouver residence that balances refinement, comfort, and lasting functionality.
