Located in the British Properties in West Vancouver, this extensive residential renovation was designed to create a calm and highly refined home that responds to its dramatic natural surroundings, with sweeping views toward the Lions Gate Bridge. Andrea Rodman Interiors led the full-service interior design, working closely with the clients and build team to transform the existing residence into a cohesive and timeless space.
A primary objective of the renovation was to strengthen the connection between the interior and the rugged West Coast landscape. The design approach focused on material continuity, natural textures, and a restrained palette, allowing the surrounding environment to inform the overall atmosphere of the home.
Particular attention was given to the detailing of thresholds and transitions throughout the residence. Doorways and entrances were carefully reworked with recessed handles, custom wood hardware, and refined millwork casing details. These elements were designed to integrate seamlessly with the natural wood flooring and millwork, creating a consistent and elevated architectural language throughout the home.
Drawing from contemporary international influences, the interiors are grounded in a calm, monochromatic palette that emphasizes texture, light, and proportion. The clients’ extensive art collection plays a central role in the design, with each piece thoughtfully placed to create moments of focus and contrast within the otherwise restrained architectural framework.
In the kitchen, Bianco Carrara marble wraps the hood fan and backsplash, introducing depth and material richness. A ribbed stone fireplace surround adds subtle visual rhythm, acting as a grounding element within the simplicity of the overall design.
The result is a highly personalized renovation that balances refinement with livability—a calm and elevated home where architecture, interiors, and landscape come together seamlessly.
